Centauride vs. Serpent relief carving

This piece is of my own design based on a small carving that my grandfather carved for my grandmother 75 years ago. My grandfather was not a stone carver, as far as I know he only ever carved this one piece and apparently he carved using a sharpened screwdriver. I decided to carve my own version. His was in a soft cream coloured limestone a a rectangular piece about 300mm x 200m. It depicts a centaur fighting a serpent surrounded by foliage. In my version I carved it in slate, within a circle of a diameter of 600mm and I made my centaur female
